Step 1: Generate a temporary SSP password.

Permanent passwords must be used instead of temporary ones, and they should contain a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols that are at least eight characters in length.

Step 4: Go to www.ssp.usps.gov to create a permanent password.

Go to www.ssp.usps.gov. Click on the “Enter SSP button.” The Self-Service Profile Login screen will show.

You’ll see Create a new user profile on your screen if you don’t have one yet. Click on it and then click Next in the top right corner of your screen.

Step 5: Enter your EIN

Enter your Employee Identification Number (EIN) (you can find the Employee Identification Number EIN printed at the top of your income statement. Enter all eight digits, even if the first digit is a zero. If you don’t have an EIN yet, enter zeros (). 

Your initials: Type your initials precisely as they appear on the front and back of your badge () 

The password you created: enter the password that you set up in step 1.

Password hint: this will help you remember or reset your password in case you forget it.

Step 6: Enter the temporary password.

You will find your temporary Self-Service Password in the top right-hand corner of the welcome letter.

Step 7: Change your temporary password.

On the next screen, change your temporary password by typing a New Password and then Confirm your Password.

Step 2: Problems logging into your employee online account

Please make sure that you have typed in the correct information when attempting to log into your employee online account. Ensure your Employee ID contains eight numbers and your SSP password includes no more than 16 characters.

Step 3: CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK are off

Providing the correct case for your Employee ID and password may also cause you problems logging in. If you are still not able to log in, check that you have typed your employee ID and password correctly. CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK must not be enabled for these fields since they are case-sensitive. You should enter your information with an upper-case letter followed by a lower-case letter (e.g., EmployeeID ).

Step 4: Try to log in using a different browser.

In this step, you are trying to see if the issue is with your username and password or with the website. If you’re able to log in on a different browser, your username and password are likely correct. If you’re not able to log in on a different browser, go back through the steps above and make sure that: 

You entered the correct information when creating your account 

You didn’t mistype any of the information 

You don’t have a security setting that blocks cookies from websites (this can be done by going into Chrome Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content settings > Cookies)
